«Amsterdam» Apartment ComplexHome / «Amsterdam» Apartment Complex
DescriptionThe architectural idea of «Amsterdam» was born as a result of some compromise. An assertive desire of the customer to decorate the future building with some "historical elements" faced a strong opposition of architects who in their turn proposed a grotesque sculpture of a medieval town cut of a bulk form of an ordinary living apartment block. The found image, as later went out, responded to a natural desire of future tenants to live in faraway-seen houses and that was the point for a commercial success. As the customer desired, the building was designed as a club house considering a narrow circle of tenants with higher incomes provided that all apartments should have a panoramic view to Dnipro river. This task was completed using a double apartment block concept where the layout of every apartment is built around double oriented space of the living room and the kitchen. An unordinary wide cross-section allowed to place the parking lot and spa complex in the ground floor while the L-shaped form of the building made possible to install a patio on the steep slope.
